Some interiors are designed to be experienced slowly, revealing their character through layers of material, colour and light.
The Comet Club, a restaurant and lounge in Westbury, New York, is one such space. Designed by New York design studio SUGARHOUSE, the project draws on the glamour of a bygone era, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Rich textures, warm finishes and considered lighting establish a distinctive atmosphere, creating an interior that feels both intimate and expressive.

A Study in Scale and Atmosphere
Throughout The Comet Club, lighting plays an important role in shaping the character of the space.
SUGARHOUSE specified Lumière Shades' Empire Shade in sizes ranging from 60 cm to 120 cm, introducing a consistent silhouette at varying scales throughout the interior.
The repetition of form creates a sense of continuity, while the variation in size allows each shade to respond to its surroundings.
It is a thoughtful example of how decorative lighting can contribute to the rhythm and atmosphere of a hospitality space.

A Considered Collaboration
For our studio, seeing Lumière Shades incorporated into projects such as The Comet Club reflects the relationship between lighting, architecture and interior design.
We value the opportunity to work with designers who approach materials, proportion and atmosphere with intention.
Our thanks to SUGARHOUSE for including Lumière Shades in this distinctive project.
